Debbie Markowitz worked as general manager of the Summer Theatre at Mt. Holyoke, company manager of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and program director of the Huntington Arts Council. Her stage management credits include Barrington Stage Company, Theatreworks, Hartford Stage, Oklahoma Shakespeare Festival, Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre and two national tours with the National Theatre of the Performing Arts. She has also worked in New York with the Roundabout Theatre and the Manhattan Theatre Club. Debbie earned a master's degree in stage management from Purdue University.
In 2019, Debbie was awarded with an "Outstanding Staff Member Award" for her work at The Hartt School. At the University of Hartford, her responsibilities include being stage management supervisor for more than 20 productions a year; stage manager for three mainstage theatre productions a year; overseeing students as the production crew for productions; stage manager for the Hartt Opera MainStage production, as well as for the annual Gala and Hartt Collage.
