Mae Cooke is a New England based pedal harpist. They teach harp ensemble at the Hartt School of Music and private lessons and ensemble at the Community Music School of Springfield. They are working on their masters at Hartt School of Music and graduated from Eastman School of Music with their Bachelors of Music in Harp Performance and Bachelors of the Arts with Studio Art. They gig in the Connecticut and Massachusetts area, and play with groups such as Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra, and Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. Cooke has extensive solo, ensemble and orchestra experience. They have a wide variety of experience with different genres like atonal, classical, and jazz.

Teaching Philosophy

Mae Cooke’s teaching philosophy is about working together with the student to find the best path for them. Your journey with music is unique, and Cooke is there to provide the stepping stones for you to achieve your goals. Music is all about community and learning. Cooke goals in teaching are:

  • Enable growth and deep understanding of the harp.
  • Inspire artistic expression in music.
  • Grow community between harpists.
  • Work with the student to achieve their goals in a productive and positive way.
