Teaching Philosophy

The inherent power of music emotionally impacts and moves people across the planet everyday. Those who get the privilege to study, practice and perform music can reap personal benefits of fulfillment and expression otherwise unknown. I have lived a life deeply devoted to music for over 15 years as an educator, performer, composer and producer. I would not be where I am today without the incredible teachers I have had along the way. My teachers instilled me the principles of patience, commitment, perseverance, discipline, honesty and humor (maybe the most important!) in my pursuit of excellence in singing and musicianship. In addition to embracing these values, I focus on showing my students how to build a strong foundation of technique while learning how to deliver emotive and impactful performances. I have worked with singers and musicians at all stages and ages of their musical journey—beginners to professionals. Ultimately, music and singing is a creative act of personal expression with the potential to significantly impact the individual musician and others. My job truly is to give my students the tools needed to find their own voice and create their own relationship with singing and music. The study and pursuit of singing is absolutely one of the most unique endeavors a human being can embark upon: an exciting adventure of self discovery. I cherish each and every one of my students and the opportunity to share the wonder of music with them.
