Edith Ouellet EdD, RN, CNE is the Executive Director and Chair of the Nursing Programs in the College of Education, Nursing, and Health Professions at the University of Hartford. Throughout her 36 years as a Registered Nurse, she practiced as a staff nurse in the neonatal intensive care and maternal-child units, a faculty member in nursing education, and as a nursing administrator. During the past ten years she served as the nurse administrator of pre-licensure nursing programs in both Connecticut and Virginia in the roles of program director and dean.
Dr. Ouellet is a passionate advocate for the nursing profession, faculty, and students. Her doctoral research focused on the new graduate nurse population as they transition into practice, with attention and understanding on the challenges they face. With this understanding, she offers a perspective that helps prepare the RN for entry-level professional practice, continued professional development throughout their career, and the importance of building and sustaining relationships with external stakeholders.
