Teaching Focus: Assistant Professor Daniel DeMaio, MEd, RT(R)(CT), teaches the radiation physics, imaging principles, and radiobiology courses of the radiography program. He provides state-of-the art information using instructional strategies that help students develop a deep understanding of the physical principles of radiographic imaging and radiation safety. DeMaio incorporates a wide range of educational technology in his courses including digital images and videos, clickers, vodcasts, wikis, and Web-based flipped lectures.
Professional Interests: DeMaio has more than 20 years of clinical experience in radiography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and computed tomography (CT). He has lectured nationally on the physics of CT imaging and is the author of Mosby’s Exam Review In Computed Tomography (Second Ed.), a leading resource for technologists seeking their professional credential in CT imaging. DeMaio's current research interests include the impact of an audience response system (clickers) on active learning and video-supported student self-assessment of simulated radiographic positioning.
