Dr. Yang is an Associate Professor in Structural Engineering. Before he joined University of Hartford, he worked as a structural engineer designing steel structures at a design firm in Kansas City. Now he is actively doing research in repair methods for structures damaged in earthquakes, finite element analysis structures under extreme loads, and failure criteria for brittle materials. He serves as an associate member of the ACI/ASCE committee 447 for finite element analysis of concrete structures, a member of ACI, on the editorial board of the International Journal of Applied Science, Engineering, and Advanced Research, and a reviewer for multiple leading journals in his field including ASCE journal of bridge engineering, engineering structures, construction and building materials, and composite structures. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in California.
