Robert McAlpin has served at the University in the Office of the Provost since 2014, first as Director of Budgeting & Financial Oversight for Academic Affairs. He was appointed Assistant Provost for Academic Finance, Administration, and Planning in January of 2019. Prior to coming to the University of Hartford, McAlpin served as Managing Director/Associate Producer (2006 - 2014) and General Manager (2004-2006) of the New School for Drama at New School University in New York, NY. During his time at New School University, Robert taught the graduate theater collaborative capstone course for two years, helped develop and launch the University's BFA in Theater, and received the 2010 Excellence in University Service award. Before his work as an administrator in higher education he worked professionally in the performing arts and theater as a production manager, general manager, and producer. Companies included Hartford Stage, New York Stage & Film, The Women's Project, Classic Theater of Harlem, David Parson's Dance Company, Big Art Group, Ridge Theater, and The Foundry Theater. McAlpin received his MS in Non-Profit Management from Milano, The New School for Management & Urban Policy, and a BFA in Theater with an emphasis in Technical Theater and Production from Stephen F. Austin State University.
