On Wednesday, April 3, the entire University of Hartford community—alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends—joined together to celebrate UHart's ninth annual Day of Giving. This was the most impactful year yet with Hawks supporting the causes that are most meaningful to them.
Thanks to the generosity of 1,518 donors who contributed a total of $ $477,595, the UHart community will receive a boost of support in various areas including financial aid, clubs and organizations, and academic programs. The electric atmosphere of the day was further fueled by 28 challenges and 15 matches offered by donors.
This year, 40% of gifts were made by our alumni population, making them the largest demographic to contribute for Day of Giving. In the lead up to the big day, alums across the Northeast attended Hawk Hangout events in Hartford, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Providence. A total of 181 alumni attendees showed up between all the events to share their UHart pride.
The April 3 event featured Teddy’s (S)wag Station in GSU where students gathered to pay forward the support they receive and to hang out with the school’s comfort canine. Graduating students who made gifts were recognized with a special philanthropy cord to wear at Commencement.
This year’s Day of Giving merch consisted of a special edition Legacy Logo Tote and UHart Gives pet bandanas. Advocates were thanked with exclusive vinyl decals designed by Hartford Art School and LEAD student Millie Hamlin ’25.
This year’s Day of Giving furthered the culture of philanthropy, while also showcasing the ways donors make a dynamic student experience possible for all members of the UHart community.
