At CETA, students have a unique hands-on learning experience working with advanced technology and machinery found in our labs, studios, classrooms, and innovative spaces. We also offer students the opportunity to use the labs and studios outside of regularly scheduled hours through our Open Lab Program.

Core classes for our engineering, technology, and architecture programs are in the Biology-Chemistry building, Dana Hall, Harry Jack Gray Center, Hursey Center, and United Technologies Hall. These buildings also contain numerous faculty offices and study spaces to encourage academic success.

Get an inside look at our collaborative spaces through our videos and image galleries below.

The Hursey Center

The Francis X. and Nancy Hursey Center for Advanced Engineering and Health Professions is a 60,000-square-foot facility home to numerous technology-rich collaborative spaces for the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture.

Architecture Studio

Our architecture labs and studios are located in the Harry Jack Gray Center, adjacent to our library, bookstore, and Joseloff Gallery.

Our wood shop space has equipment available to assist with planning and designing architecture project ideas.

A computer lab and digital fabrication suite are also available for digital research and design application.

Center for Manufacturing and Metrology

The Center for Manufacturing and Metrology (CMM), built with the support of Pratt and Whitney, offers multidisciplinary training in various aspects of measurement science.

Along with high-tech technology, the CMM lab is equipped with mobile storage cabinets containing new gages and precision tools.

The lab space contains brand new hardware supported by an in-house staff of computer and technology specialists.

Makerspace

Located in the Hursey Center, our Makerspace is an action-oriented area given by given by Paul '76 and Sharon Oliva.

The facility offers 12 collaborative workstations, multiple overhead power ports, a 3D printing lab, and a machine shop stocked with industry-equivalent equipment.

The expansive area also includes garage doors to accommodate larger projects. No idea is too large for the Makerspace!

What is better than a 3D printer? A wall of 3D printers! Develop your ideas from concept to creation in our 3D printing space.

Whether you choose to build, design, or study, the Makerspace was intentionally built to accommodate various academic needs.

High-Bay Structural Engineering Lab

Featuring a 20-ton overhead crane, the High-Bay Structural Engineering Lab boasts larger-than-life learning!

The High-Bay lab floor was durably designed, offering 60 anchors, each with a capacity of 100,000 lb. in tension and 60,000 lb. in shear.

Students can conveniently meet for project collaboration directly outside the lab in the Stanley Black & Decker Commons.

Pratt & Whitney Aerospace and Turbomachinery Lab

Aerospace engineering students have the opportunity to work on innovative equipment that mirrors industry machinery.

The lab features three wind tunnels so students can directly learn how to test speed, movement, and airflow.

All workbenches have wheels so students can rearrange the space and openly work on equipment.

Transportation Lab

Immerse yourself in the engineering field inside our Transportation Laboratory. Equipped with a realistic driving simulator, you will be able to test, analyze, and measure roadway construction.

The driving simulator can be programmed for students to experiment with how obstacles, speed, and different weather conditions can affect roadway performance.

Numerous computers and worktables are available for students to collaborate and explore solutions to real-world civil engineering problems.
