Incoming students can be eligible to participate in the University Honors Program starting their first semester or become eligible once they complete their first semester with a GPA of 3.0. Every student who applies to the University of Hartford is evaluated for their Honors potential. If a student is accepted into the program, they will get notification in their acceptance letter.

- incoming students who receive a President's or Regents' Scholarship also are eligible for the Honors Program.
Requirements
Participation
After taking an honors course or two, a student must
- submit the Declaration Form to their College Coordinator, and
- fulfill the specific requirements of the honors program of his or her college, which includes 18 credits and a required grade point average.*
General
- 6 credits of honors general education (e.g., honors WRT and UIS)
- 6 or 9 credits of advanced honors courses (e.g., HON 300 seminars)
- 6 or 3 credits of an honors thesis, a senior project, or an honors contract
Some of these credits can be earned by an Honors Contract for a regular course. All honors courses must be taken for a letter grade (not P/NP).
