  • Graduate Ceremony (master's and doctoral recipients), 9 a.m.
  • Undergraduate Ceremony (associate and bachelor's recipients), 2 p.m.

Commencement 2024

Congratulations to the approximately 1,200 degree recipients who will be honored during our ceremonies on Sunday. Doors to the XL Center will open for graduates and guests one hour before the start of each ceremony. Signs and XL Center staff will guide you when you arrive. Students will be brought to a staging area to line up for the ceremony, while guests will be led directly to audience seating.

Graduating students, please bring your complete regalia with you. We recommend pressing or steaming regalia at home; there will not be a place to do so at the XL Center. You may bring a small purse or bag for personal items. There will not be a place to store personal belongings during the ceremony.


Graduating students and faculty participating in the ceremonies who reserved their space on the campus shuttle should refer to the following timeline:

Graduate Ceremony: Shuttle will leave Millard Circle (in front of Hartt) at 7:30 a.m.
Undergraduate Ceremony: Shuttle will leave Millard Circle (in front of Hartt)  at 12:30 p.m.
The shuttle will return to campus directly after each Commencement ceremony.

Shuttles are only available for graduating students and participating faculty; guests will need to provide their own transportation. Parking information for the XL Center can be found on our Commencement FAQ page.

Commencement addresses by two distinguished alumni will be among the highlights of the University of Hartford’s 2024 Commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 12, at downtown Hartford’s XL Center.

Jay Malave M’98, chief financial officer of Lockheed Martin, one of the nation’s leading global security and aerospace companies, will address graduates at the morning ceremony for doctoral and master’s degree recipients. Later that day, UHart’s undergraduate Class of 2024 will hear from Georgia State Senator Sonya Halpern M’90, a persevering advocate for equity and opportunity.

Commencement 2024

Our annual May Commencement exercises are scheduled for Sunday, May 12, at the XL Center in downtown Hartford. It will celebrate the academic achievements of all who were awarded degrees during the 2023–24 academic year (Sept. 2023, Jan. 2024, May 2024). The Graduate Ceremony (doctoral and master's degrees) will be held at 9 a.m. with the Undergraduate Ceremony (bachelor's and associate degrees) taking place at 2 p.m.

Before you can walk across the stage, you need to make sure you've completed all the necessary steps for graduation.
