About Student Conduct

At the University of Hartford, community matters. Student Conduct is one of many offices on campus that works actively to maintain community standards and support a campus environment where every student’s rights are protected. The misconduct resolution system is educational, not a court of law. Every student who goes through the process is offered a fair opportunity to discuss the incident that happened with a trained professional staff member.

This is a non-adversarial process. Decisions are not pre-determined. Your side of the story matters and we want to hear what you have to say. The student conduct system offers several options, including the misconduct dispute and review (appeal), to help you resolve your case in the fairest way possible.

The Office of Student Conduct Administration is located in the Gengras Student Union (GSU) room 307, 860.768.5402. Please note that we have several student conduct officers across campus. Do not assume that your conduct meeting is in GSU. Your email will clearly state the location of your meeting and the name of the professional staff member you will be meeting with.

How does the student conduct process work?

1. An incident occurs.
2. A report is generated and forwarded to the Office of Student Conduct Administration.
3. The case is assigned to a student conduct officer.
4. The student receives an email with the date and time of their conduct meeting.
5. The student and the conduct officer have a conversation about the incident and a resolution is reached.

Helpful student conduct tips:

• Show up to your conduct meeting. The information in your file is only 50% of the story. We want to hear your side. If you do not come, your case will be closed based on the information available to the conduct officer, you will lose your right to appeal, and you will be required to complete all sanctions assigned.
• Be on time. If you are late, you may be considered a no-show and the case cannot be re-opened.
• Stay calm. Your conduct meeting is not a face-off, it is a conversation.
• Communicate! If you have questions, need help, or have an extenuating circumstance, please talk to us.
• Complete your sanctions by the due date.
