President's Message

I have taken great pride in watching the growth of the Center for Community Service. My goal remains that one day, every undergraduate at the University will have the opportunity to participate in community service.

The University is located in an exciting setting in the Hartford community, and part of its land lies in three municipalities–Hartford, West Hartford, and Bloomfield. These three communities, and many others that surround us, provide students with a very wide range of options in community service.

So whether you like working with children or older citizens, in women's shelters or in schools, in large groups or one-on-one situations, the Center will make finding that setting easer for all of you.

Community service was an important part of my undergraduate education. I remember more about my work in north Hartford than much of what I learned in class. That is why I think its so important, and why I continue to be involved in community service. I hope, through the Center, that you will join me.
