The University of Hartford's Women & Gender Resource Center has several events and activities planned to observe Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which began on April 1. These include: Consent Day: Wednesday, April 7: Students will pledge that they understand that "No Means No," even in a relationship, and that they will make sure they have consent from their partners. They will make the pledges from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Suisman Lounge, Gengras Student Union, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford.

Take Back the Night: Thursday, April 8: This is part of a national Sexual Assault Awareness event that encourages people to break the silence that can surround sexual assault. Students, faculty and staff will meet in front of the University Commons building at 6 p.m. and will march together in silence to the Gengras Student Union.  (A campus map is available at http://www.hartford.edu/about/map/.)

Umbrellas for Peace: Wednesday, April 14, and Thursday, April 15: The Umbrellas for Peace Project is a global art project involving painting and decorating umbrellas. Students will paint umbrellas in Suisman Lounge, Gengras Student Union from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Their artistic designs will represent their feelings about world peace. The umbrellas will be on display in Suisman Lounge on Thursday, April 22. To learn more about Umbrellas for Peace, visit http://www.the-lamb-umbrellas-for-peace.org/.
