SEPTEMBER 2014

  • 9th or 10th:  Work Study Job Fair. Students who have been awarded Federal Work Study Status may obtain a Work Study Job. Check your financial aid packet to see if you qualify.  Stop by Suisman Lounge anytime between 10 a.m.–2 p.m. on either day.  Note:  Work Study Jobs will be posted on CareerBridge by the end of August.
  • 11th:  Life Saver Career Fair Prep.  Ready to attend a career fair?  Not to worry...Career Services to the rescue!  Join us from noon–2 p.m. in GSU 345 to get your résumé in tip-top shape, practice your 30 second introduction to employers, and prepare for much more!
  • 22nd:  No Barriers Job Fair for Veterans.  For Veteran students who are juniors, seniors, or graduate students.  You must register and upload your resume on CareerBridge no later than September 15th.  Event held between 11:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Student Union Ball Room at UCONN.
  • 23rd:  CETA Students:  Presenting Your Best Self.  Learn how to make a good impression when you meet with employers.  Event held in UT320 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
  • 23rd:  BSB Students:  Dressing for Success.  Learn how to dress professionally for career fairs and job interviews.  John Demma, Barney MBA alumnus will be the guest speaker.  Event takes place from 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. in Mali 2.
  • 25th:  BSB Students:  Professional Presence Workshop.  Do you understand your professional presence and affect?  Learn how to stand out from your competitors and get the job.  Workshop begins at 12:15 p.m..  Location TBD, (check the Barney website for additional details.)
  • 26th:  Procter & Gamble Information Session.  Looking for a job or internship?  Are you  a leader who possesses an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for winning, and the ability to build collaborative, mutually beneficial relationships?  This session will include a Gillette Plant Tour.  Clos-toes, flat shoes are required for the plant tour!  No heels!  Event takes place from 2 –4:30 p.m. at 1 Gillette Park, South Boston, Room 1G –1010.   • 27th:  Leadership Quest. A one-day professional conference for University of Hartford students to gain insights on how to become a leader in today's rapidly changing world.  Join us on Saturday from 9 a.m.– 2 p.m. in Suisman Lounge.  Please register for this event on CareerBridge.
  • 30th:  Business Opportunity Fair. Come meet representatives from area businesses to discuss full-time and internship opportunities in the fields of accounting, economics & finance, marketing, entrepreneurial studies, actuarial science, management and insurance.  Dress for success and bring copies of your résumé.  Plan ahead if you have classes during this time -- speak with your professor in advance about making up the work. Event held in Konover Campus Center from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

OCTOBER 2014

  • 1st:  Etiquette Dinner.  Be prepared to attend a business dinner. Which utensil should you use for seafood? Which glass is for red wine?  When NOT to speak?  How to signal you are done with your meal?  Come learn the answers to these questions plus much more!  Event takes place from 5–7:30 p.m. in the 1877 Club.  You must register on CareerBridge for this event.
  • 7th:  CETA Students:  Learn how to Navagate CareerBridge. Workshop takes place from 12:15 – 1:15 p.m. in Dana 423.
  • 8th:  Résumé Boot Camp.  Is your résumé up-to-date?  Do you need to create one?  Does your résumé stand out?  Don't miss this important event!  Now is the time to whip your résumé into shape.  Bring a copy of your résumé and stop by Suisman Lounge anytime between 10 a.m–2 p.m.
  • 9th:  BSB Students: Information Session with National Life Group.  Event takes place from 5 – 6:15 p.m. in Hillyer Room H226.  Limited seating.  Please register on CareerBridge.
  • 9th:  Government, Criminal Justice & Nonprofit Career Fair.  Fair takes place in the Woodward Center, Westfield State University in MA from 1:30 – 4 p.m.  Bring copies of your résumé and dress professionally.
  • 10th:  CETA Mock Interviews with JCJ Architecture for CETA Students.  Limited Seating Mock Interview sessions conducted by Nicolette Whiddon, HR Professional with JCJ Architecture.  Sessions available between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.  Please pre-register on CareerBridge Mock interviews will be held at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Registrants will be given the choice of interviewing for one of two positions: Intern or Intern I. Please submit résumés to Lynn Baronas at Career Services (baronas@hartford.edu) in advance of the interviews.   • 14th:  Speed Mock Interviews. Learn good interviewing techniques. Please register for this event on CareerBridge.  Event held in GSU Rooms 331 & 333 from 5–7:30 p.m.
  • 15th:  Grad School Info Session. Free presentation on the basics of getting into graduate school.  Presented by a Princeton Review tutor.  Event held in GSU 341 from 5 –6 p.m.  Register online for event.
  • 16th:  CETA Mock Interviews with Kaman Corporation for CETA Students. Kaman Aerospace Group is hosting three limited seating Mock Interviews at its Bloomfield location, 1332 Blue Hills Ave., Bloomfield, CT.  All three mock interviews will begin at 9 a.m. Registrants will be given the choice of interviewing for one of two positions: Applications Engineer or Engineer I. Please submit résumés to Lynn Baronas at Career Services (baronas@hartford.edu) in advance of the interviews.

  • 24th: CETA Mock Interviews with id3Architecture for CETA Students.  id3A will host three mock interviews--at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.-- for the position of Architect Intern at its headquarters in Glastonbury.  Interested students should register through CareerBridge and send a copy of their résumé to Lynn Baronas at baronas@hartford.edu.
