Positioning for the Future

The University of Hartford has embarked on several initiatives that will prepare us for future opportunities and challenges. These initiatives are being guided by committees made up of a wide representation of faculty and staff and, in some cases, regents and students. With the help of outside consultants, these groups are using their expertise and knowledge about the University of Hartford to conduct in-depth looks at current programs and practices, to look at how other universities address issues, to identify strategically defined goals, and to refocus resources.

The work of these committees is setting the stage for a bright future for the University. Current initiatives include:

• Foundation of the Future, a program review and prioritization of all academic and administrative programs, with a goal of determining where to focus the University’s resources without increasing the overall budget.

• The President’s Commission on Faculty Compensation, a study of the University’s faculty compensation structure, with a goal to recommend a multi-year plan to make the University's faculty compensation more competitive with peer institutions.

• The Libraries Master Plan Steering Committee, development of a long-range master plan for the future of the Mortensen and Allen libraries in light of the rapid evolution of information technology.
