Thomas Filburn


Thomas Filburn, professor of mechanical engineering in the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture, is an expert on nuclear power plant construction, operation, and safety issues. This past year, he directed a group of graduate and undergraduate students in building a sub-scale, see-through nuclear power plant, which is operational (but without nuclear fuel).

In this conversation, he talks about his background and training, programs at the University of Hartford, and the exciting challenges and opportunities within the field of engineering.
