Funding Sources
  • Global Fund for Women
    The Global Fund for Women (GFW) is an international network of men and women who are dedicated to improving the human rights of women in all countries. Grantees receive funds from $500 to $20,000 and the GFW is currently funding projects in 166 countries. Projects serve to foster social change, increase the awareness of the value of the female experience, to increase access to education, and to ensure basic human rights.

  • Ms. Foundation for Women
    The Ms. Foundation for Women (MFW) was created thirty years ago with the principle that everyone benefits from the development and empowerment of women. Notably, the MFW initiated “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” and continues to create programs on the local, state, and national level to provide leadership opportunities, socio-economic advancement for women, and networking and philanthropic initiatives.

  • Women’s Funding Network
    Founded in 1985, the Women’s Funding Network (WFN) is an organization which links funds for women’s groups and organizations to raise awareness of both the needs of the female community as well as the philanthropic efforts to raise money for these issues.

  • The Sister Fund
    The Sister Fund is an organization which funds projects with a faith-based philanthropic scope that will benefit women. Founders of The Sister Fund are emphatic that feminism and faith do not have to be separate endeavors. Projects are funded annually throughout the United States and many projects serve to impact the lives of women in war-torn countries or socio-economically disadvantaged areas.

  • Connecticut Women’s Education & Legal Fund
    The Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF) is an organization dedicated to promoting equality for women through education, leadership, and legal support. Though CWEALF began as a successful lobbyist group turned women’s rights law firm, today, CWEALF fosters opportunities for development in the personal and professional lives of women through legal aid and programs such as the CT Girls and Technology Network.

  • The Jeannette Rankin Foundation
    Jeannette Rankin was the first female congresswoman in the United States and advocate of the rights of women and children. This foundation was created by her closest friends to honor Rankin’s belief that it is never to late to earn a college degree. Each year, grants are awarded to women over the age of thirty-five who need financial assistance to return to school.

Women’s Associations
  • National Council of Women’s Organizations
    The National Council of Women’s Organizations links organizations across that nation with the shared interest of the advancement of women and women’s issues. By providing a forum where organizations can share both their insights and resources, the NCWO strives to be a political voice for women’s issues in the United States and beyond.

  • Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame
    Katharine Hepburn, Dorothy Goodwin, and Harriet Beecher Stowe are just a few of the women who are profiled at the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame for their achievements in their fields and beyond. Connecticut boasts a rich history of strong female leaders and the Hall of Fame inspires the continued achievement of women and girls through profiling the extraordinary accomplishments of the women who blazed a path for the generations to come.

  • Women in Management
    Committed to developing women as leaders, Women in Management is an organization that allows for the networking of women interested in management and leadership as well as supporting upcoming students who are seen as potential leaders. Yearly, scholarships are made available to women who have completed at least sixty course credits or are attempting to complete a graduate degree.

Collegiate Organizations
  • Women’s College Coalition
    The Women’s College Coalition is an organization uniting the efforts of colleges and universities that serve an all female student body. Prior to its close, Hartford College for Women was a part of this coalition, and the values and goals claimed by the coalition are consistent with principles of HCW and its legacy.

  • 100 Hispanic Women, Inc.
    The Young Latinas Leadership Institute is a division of the organization 100 Hispanic Women, Inc. which seeks to provide young Latina women to have the tools and support necessary to obtain a college education. The goal of the program is to help these young women ascend into positions of leadership to make a positive impact on their life and in their community.

  • Women’s Leadership Institute, Hartford Seminary
    The Women’s Leadership Institute at the Hartford Seminary provides a model for the study of spirituality through a feminist lens. The program is experience-based and is designed to develop an embodied spirituality grounded in the real world and an individual’s personal life.

  • Wellesley Centers for Women
    The Wellesley Centers for Women research issues faced by women, children, and families from a variety of traditional and non-traditional angles. Information compiled at the Centers is used to influence and promote change in law and public policy as well as education and medicine.

  • Five College Women’s Studies Research Center
    A consortium of Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, Smith College, and University of Massachusetts at Amherst joined together to create the Five College Women’s Studies Research Center to provide a location for the scholarly investigation of women and gender. Approximately fifteen scholars and activists are residents at the Center for a period of three to eight months working on independent projects in a collaborative atmosphere.

  • National Women’s Studies Association
    The National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA) at the University of Maryland is a grant funded Association which supports and promotes feminist education and research. The NWSA provides information regarding internships in various women’s organizations around the country, lists funding opportunities for projects which will benefit women, and links feminist students, scholars, and activists throughout the United States.

  • American Association of University Women
    The mission of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is to advance equality for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. The AAUW achieves this mission through scholarships, grant funding, educational opportunities, community programs, and issue advocacy.
