Men Against Rape and Sexual Assault

This unique organization consists of young men who care about making a difference in the lives of our campus population. Their mission is to educate and empower the male community at the University of Hartford to work as allies with women in rape prevention, and other forms of male violence. Men Against Rape and Sexual Assault (MARS) works actively with resident assistants to inform and educate students in our residential facilities, and assists the Women’s Center and The Network with programming and advocacy.

MARS promotes the RAD program, a free self-defense course for women instructed by the Department of Public Safety. MARS is a group that will step up to assist any group in need of their services, and their invaluable assistance to the Multicultural organizations has enhanced their programming efforts in ways that personify students helping students. Under the purview of Crime Prevention Officer Luis Natal, and established by Officer Natal and the late Akbar Mitchell, MARS is a shining example of student empowerment.
