Special Information for Parents:

Calls from Parents/Guardians

Unless your son or daughter is under 18, their medical visit is confidential.  Information will not be released without written authorization from the patient.  We know this can be frustrating for the parent.  Our goal is to have a safe environment for the patient to come and express any and all issues they may be having adjusting to campus life. .

Eligibility and Fees

All full-time undergraduates are eligible for services.  There is no charge to be seen and we do not bill your insurance for an office visit.    Students may incur charges for the following:

We offer both over-the-counter and prescription medications.  Students can purchase the medication from us or have a written prescription which they can take to an area pharmacy.

Laboratory Testing:
We are able to perform many in-house laboratory testing that may incur fees.  These range from strep, mono, and flu tests to women's health and STD testing.  If bloodwork is required we can draw the blood at Health Services and send it to a local laboratory for processing.  The local laboratory then will bill the student's insurance.
Women's Health:
Routine examinations, annual exams, pregnancy testing and birth control counseling are available to all students.  Students may incur fees related to these specialty services.

Allergy Clinics:
Students may receive allergy injections using the antigen supplied by their allergist along with a copy of their physician's instructions.  Health Services does not start any antigens.  We offer this service by appointment during limited hours.  An allergy fee does apply.

Flu Clinics:
To keep the campus healthy, it is very important for students to get vaccinated.  Please encourage your son or daughter to get vaccinated by stopping in our office or at home with your physician.  Flu shots are available for a fee.

Payment is appreciated at the time of service.  We accept cash, check, cc, or Hawk's cash.  We can always make arrangements for the student to come back at a later date to pay if needed.  Any outstanding balances not paid by the agreed upon date will be transferred to the student's University account and a billing fee will apply.

Student Accident & Sickness Insurance:
The University of Hartford is not offering insurance options for students this year.
Our office does not handle the University insurance.  If you have questions, please contact Financial Affairs at
