The University of Hartford is ranked #2 among U.S. colleges in insurer hiring of 2012–2013 risk management and insurance undergraduates. The ranking was reported by Business Insurance magazine in its “Top U.S. College Risk Management and Insurance Undergraduate Programs” section of the December print edition. According to figures reported to the magazine, 80 percent of the University’s Barney School of Business 2012–13 risk management and insurance undergraduates were hired by insurance companies. That’s second only to California State University in Fullerton which topped the list with 92 percent of its 2012–13 risk management and insurance undergraduates hired by insurance companies.

"Through our curriculum, faculty expertise, industry partnerships, and career preparation, our students are well-positioned to add value to firms" said Barney School of Business Dean Martin S. Roth. "We are extremely proud of our insurance, finance and risk management students, and of our alumni who are industry leaders."

Students in the Barney School of Business, who are looking for a career in the insurance industry, can major in Insurance and Finance, and pursue minors in Actuarial Science and Finance.

According to Business Insurance, the University of Hartford tied for second place with LaSalle University.
