James J. Peta, Jr. of New Hartford, who has more than 40 years of experience as a business manager in the industrial sector, has been named director of MBA programs at the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford, according to James Fairfield-Sonn, dean of the Barney School of Business.
Peta, who most recently served as a senior product manager for Danaher, has held positions as vice president of production for Pioneer Steel Ball, and manager of manufacturing operations for Thomson Precision Ball.
As director of MBA programs, Peta will be responsible for recruiting students, organizing outside-the-classroom experiential activities for students, developing partnerships with local companies to create job placement opportunities, assisting in MBA curriculum development, and assisting in increasing donor support for the program and its students.

Having taught as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Hartford since 1973, Peta has been a part-time regular faculty member in the Barney School’s department of economics specializing in quantitative methods since 2008.
Peta received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his MBA from the University of Hartford in 1969.
