Hundreds of fourth and fifth-graders from the Hartford area will visit the University of Hartford campus for the seventh “Wonders of the Human Body Science Fair” on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in the Konover Campus Center from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
(Please note there will be a lunch break from 11:50 to 12:25, so the best visuals will not be available during that time). The children will have the opportunity to judge interactive exhibits designed by students in the University’s College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP). The winners will be announced during the “Kids Choice Awards” ceremony at the end of the fair. Additionally, the elementary school students will be able to take virtual tours of the digestive system, heart, skeleton and other body parts in an interactive format.
This annual science fair is hosted by the University’s Educational Main Street (EMS) program. EMS provides academic support to children and their families in selected schools in Hartford and Bloomfield to increase these young students’ chances of graduating from high school and moving on to post-secondary education. University students tutor in the partner schools during the school day and after school. EMS also provides parents and teachers with workshops on important educational issues.
