Javier Colon, Winner of The Voice, Returns Home to Perform at the University of Hartford

Javier Colon, a 2000 graduate of The Hartt School at the University of Hartford who skyrocketed to fame earlier this year as the winner of the NBC singing competition, The Voice, is returning to his alma mater. He will perform two shows in the University's Lincoln Theater on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., as part of the University’s Hawktober Weekend. Another University alum, Latanya Farrell '97, '98, will open for Colon. Tickets, which are $35, will go on sale Monday, Oct. 3, starting at 10 a.m.

Colon, a native of Stratford, Conn., won the first season of The Voice in June, taking home a prize of $100,000, a recording contract, and priceless exposure for his music career. Colon is blessed with a stunningly soulful voice, uncanny writing ability, and a commanding stage presence. Colon has created his own unique style of music that can be described as an eclectic blend of R&B, folk, soul, rock and country. He is now currently on tour and has performed with artists such as Joss Stone, Darius Rucker, The Indigo Girls, Chaka Khan, Anthony Hamilton, and many more.
