The University of Hartford’s Center for Professional Development (CPD) has received a Community Development Block Grant of nearly $64,000 from the City of Hartford to support the Hartford Small Business Technical Assistance Program (SBTAP). This one-year grant will be used specifically by CPD’s Entrepreneurial Center to help existing businesses remain in Hartford as part of the “One City, One Plan” program.
The Small Business Technical Assistance Program will provide 25 business owners with free technical assistance to help stabilize and grow their businesses. The goal is to help business owners improve their operations, marketing, sales and profits, and offer assistance with accessing capital and government contracting.
“Our team of seasoned professionals looks forward to working with Hartford small businesses to help them to develop their capacity to grow, add jobs and meet the needs of the community,” said Center for Professional Development Senior Director Eileen Peltier. “We are grateful for the City of Hartford's support of our efforts.”
The Center for Professional Development was founded in 1968. It offers continuing education, professional development seminars and entrepreneurial training, the latter through the Entrepreneurial Center that was established in 1985.
