Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) Awards Contract to University of Hartford’s Center for Professional Development
The University of Hartford’s Center for Professional Development has received a nearly $25,000 contract from the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) to assist dislocated workers in the aerospace/defense manufacturing industry. The contract is in support of a $990,000 grant awarded to the Town of East Hartford by the U.S. Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) in October 2010.
The Center for Professional Development will design a comprehensive and personalized service delivery model to provide innovative holistic and integrated employment transition support services for the aerospace and defense manufacturing sector. It is expected that the model will become a prototype for employment transition support services that can be used with numerous manufacturing industries in the future.
“We are pleased to participate in such an important initiative of creating a service that will help dislocated aerospace workers transition to new jobs that, we hope, will keep their talents and skills in Connecticut,” said Center for Professional Development Senior Director Eileen Peltier.
The Center for Professional Development provides career development, training, education, and consulting services for individuals, organizations, businesses, and corporations. Located on the University of Hartford’s Asylum Avenue Campus, it has served adults from across Connecticut since 1968. To learn more, visit the Center’s website at www.hartford.edu/cpd.
