Claudia Oakes is an assistant professor and director of the Health Sciences program, in the University of Hartford's College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP), at the University of Hartford. In this interview, she talks about her background; the Health Sciences degree program; and the scope of occupational therapy and allied professions.
Oakes discusses her research into the acceptance and effectiveness of home modifications for older people; aging in place; knowing when it's time to relocate, and counteracting stereotypes on aging. She talks about the projects her students' have done in home modification services; and working on Rebuilding Hartford Together and National Rebuilding Day.
