All international students and exchange visitors are required to file U.S. income tax returns with the federal government by April 2018 for the year 2017 if you were present in the U.S. during that year.
The International Center has purchased a software program that will help you process your return in a easy, timely, and accurate manner. The software will be available at the center on or about February 10.
Please remember that income tax software products, such a Turbo Tax or TaxAct, do not calculate income tax returns for international students or exchange visitors on F and J visas.
Are you graduating in May or summer 2018? The International Center will hold an Optional Practical Training (OPT) Workshop on Tuesday, February 13h for those students who will be graduating in May or summer 2018.
During the workshop, you will receive all the necessary forms as well as complete instructions on how to apply and when. This will also be a great opportunity to ask questions regarding employment in the U.S. on OPT, the STEM program and the H-1B Visa process.
