Senior Signature
Philanthropy: The effort or inclination to increase the well-being of humankind, as by charitable aid or donations.
Why does the University of Hartford need senior support?
Tuition cannot cover the cost of providing an education by itself. The annual fund makes up for what tuition does not cover. The annual fund is supported by students, alumni, parents, and friends. Each year, donors provide over $13 million to support your education, that’s nearly $2,000 per student, and keeps tuition and fees lower than they would otherwise be. It is important that students learn about the generations of alumni who have contributed financially to their education and experiences at the University of Hartford.
What is the senior signature progam about?
We are trying to raise awareness of giving opportunities among students. We would like all students to know about the tradition of Senior Signature from the moment they step onto campus. Our goal for Senior Signature is to get 300 seniors to participate. Seniors have until June to get their name on the plaque and become part of the history. To get their name on the senior plaque this year seniors make their first gift of $20.08 to the University. The plaque is hung outside of Gengras Student Union. It is the first step of transitioning from student to alumni.
Where do the dollars go?
You can designate your gift to the area of your choice. Each individual school has its own annual fund and scholarship fund. Every dollar raised will be spent this year on increasing the technology or student research in your classes as well as funding student activities, athletics, and scholarships.
