Board of Regents Recognizes Students' Academic Achievement

The annual Board of Regents’ Honor Awards Banquet was held April 16, 2011. This year Board of Regents Chairman Thomas Groark addressed the honored students, complimenting them, their faculty, and their family supporters.  Groark stated, “Academic excellence is at the very heart of the University of Hartford.  That is why the Board of Regents supports the Honor Awards and cares so much about this event.  Every student receiving an award represents the best of the University and its future.”

The Department of Health Sciences is proud that the Board recognized the academic achievement of two of our students, Mason Munn and Kara Kucharchik.

Munn, a health science major, received one of two Certificate of Accomplishments given to full-time, junior students who have maintained the highest grade point averages in the college.  Jayne Bortunova, an early childhood education major, received the other.

Kucharick, a health sciences/physical therapy major, received the Solomon Elsner Award: The Solomon Elsner Award was established in 1962 by the Moses Fox Club in honor of Judge Solomon Elsner, who received an honorary doctorate from the University in the same year.  This award recognizes the outstanding full-time graduating senior with the highest grade point average among all undergaduate students at the University of Hartford. Kucharick achieved a 3.99 grade point average.
