Farmington Valley Transitional Academy

The Farmington Valley Transitional Academy (FVTA), has operated on the University of Hartford campus for over a decade.  It serves 18-21 year old students with disabilities who are referred from multiple local education agencies.  A collaborative agreement between the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP) Integrated Elementary and Special Education Program and FVTA was formalized in the spring of 2012 through an agreement that galvanizes the opportunities for collaboration, field experiences, tutoring, practicum, student teaching and research.

The signing of the collaborative agreement took place December 4, 2012 and included many responsible for establishment of FVTA on the University campus.  President Walter Harrison provided remarks and Gretchen Nelson, Lead Teacher for FVTA, shared the historical context.
