We are sorry to announce the cancelation of the 2018 CT STEM Conference. Please check back in Spring 2019 for information on future conferences.

Breadth and Range

We are interested in proposals for interactive, dynamic presentations targeted to teachers and administrators interested in incorporating or enhancing STEM education in their classrooms. Suggested presentation topics include:

  • An innovative practice from your classroom
  • STEM education successes through partnerships with community agencies
  • A project or unit of study that yielded notable student work
  • Effective formative or summative assessments
  • STEM education research results
  • Leadership strategies to support STEM in your school/district
  • STEM education curricula you piloted or adopted
  • Strategies for integrating STEM into other subject areas
  • Ways to incorporate Common Core, Next Generation, etc. in teaching
  • Classroom lessons that connect curriculum to STEM careers
  • Grant workshop – how have you used a grant in your classroom, grant writing tips, or how grants benefit STEM education curriculums

Proposal Selection Criteria

The planning committee will rank proposals based on:

  • Hands-on, minds-on, interactive presentations
  • Extent to which the proposal targets and is relevant to educators
  • Experience/expertise of presenters/speakers
  • Definition and focus of topic
  • Practical application of material
  • Timeliness and importance of topic
  • Overall program quality

In addition, each program proposal should:

  • Encourage active learning
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking
  • Present ideas, best practices, and/or relevant research
  • Provide strategies to effectively implement new information once attendees are back at their schools
  • Include presenters who are subject area experts and effective public speakers

The proposal form requires a program description, learning objectives, and instructional methods. Please provide enough detail so the planning committee understands the session’s structure and key issues.
