Sarah Barr, CEO and Founder of Washashore Writing, strives to give women a stronger and more competitive voice in the worlds of business, community, education, government, and politics.

Throughout her career, Sarah has always been a leader, a writer, and a mentor. Most recently, she was Vice President of Corporate and Government Communications at Webster Bank, a leading regional bank headquartered in Waterbury, Connecticut. She was responsible for raising the profile of the bank and her efforts appeared nationally in American Banker magazine, ABC World News, Fox & Friends, and Leaders Magazine, as well as numerous local and region- al media outlets.

She served as Director of Communications and New Media for the City of Hartford under two mayors. During her tenure, she led a diverse team that developed and implemented the “Come See For Yourself” and “Hartford: As Strong as Its People” marketing campaigns, as well as Hartford’s 375th Anniversary celebration.

Sarah’s writing career is rooted in television news. She continued to write and produce her own stories as her anchoring and reporting career took off. She worked behind the scenes and on-air in Philadelphia, Detroit, and Pittsburgh before returning home to Connecticut - earning four Emmy nominations along the way.

A graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, Sarah is also a firm believer in giving back to her community and has served on boards for the Greater Hartford Arts Council and The Bushnell Park Carousel.
