On this DVD, master teacher Lillie Feierabend is shown working with a group of children as she demonstrates all eight parts of the "First Steps in Music" curriculum, created by John Feierabend.
A voice-over track is also included, in which John and Lillie Feierabend guide the viewer through the lessons, offering insights into the who, what, when, where, and why of what you are seeing.
Also included is an interview with Dr. Feierabend discussing the philosophy and pedagogy of the First Steps in Music method.
Lillie Feierabend is known for her work with young children and instilling a love of music within them. She has been a general music teacher at the University of Hartford Magnet School and a director for the Connecticut Children's Chorus. She is a frequent clinician at local, state, and national conferences, speaking on many aspects of early childhood music.
John M. Feierabend, PhD, has spent decades compiling songs and rhymes from the memories of the American people, in hopes that these treasures will be preserved for future generations. He is Professor and Director of the Music Education Department of The Hartt School.
