Last Friday, University of Hartford Athletics teamed with the MetroHartford Alliance to facilitate a “Breakfast with the Hawks” event at the Society Room in downtown Hartford.

The event integrated local business leaders and Hartford student-athletes, with the goal of introducing the business community to the value of student-athletes as potential employees.  There were 11 student-athletes in attendance, representing men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball, and men's golf.

There also were presentations by University of Hartford President Walter Harrison, Director of Athletics Pat Meiser, Men’s Basketball Coach John Gallagher, and Women’s Basketball Coach Jennifer Rizzotti.

President Harrison spoke about the University’s role in the city of Hartford and the state of Connecticut, and the changing role of the NCAA. Meiser and the two coaches shared the successes the student-athletes have had, and because of their involvement in sport, noted the foundation that has been laid for them to be successful leaders in the business community.  The coaches also talked about the recruiting process and the need to bring individuals of integrity to their programs.

Approximately 75 people attended the event.
