The
Insurance City Barbershop Harmony Chorus, which includes the University of Hartford's own
Harald Sandström, associate professor of politics and government, invites
all members of the University community to its annual show this
Saturday, Nov. 7, at
7:30 p.m., at the
Newington High School auditorium, 605 Willard Ave.,
Newington, Conn.
In addition to the chorus, the winning quartet of the Northeast District, "On Q," will be featured, plus another
award-winning quartet and the Newington High School Chamber Choir. Proceeds
from the show will go to
Foodshare, with whom the chorus is partnering this year,
and area school music programs.
The Insurance City Chorus sang at last year's
Community Day, and Sandstrom's quartet has sung the national anthem at U of H
soccer matches.
Says Sandstrom: "If you haven’t heard Barbershop Harmony recently, you owe
it to yourself to discover the thrill of a well-rung chord. If I may say so, we are
good, we have a blast, and I believe you will, too."
Sandstrom has been authorized
to offer discounted tickets on a "BOGO" basis: Buy One Get One! Tickets are now
two for $15; two for $10 for seniors (loosely interpreted . . .) and students. Contact
Sandstrom at ext. 4526 or
sandstrom@hartford.edu.
