'Generations Gather for Good' — A Day of Family, Fun, and Philanthropy
Join the University's neighbor, Brookdale Place, on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for “Generations Gather for Good.” Brookdale Place, located at 22 Simsbury Road, is a senior living community.
The day will be filled with entertainment for all ages, with Big Wheel time trials, bounce houses, “Glittertoos,” jugglers and stiltwalkers, live animals from the Children’s Science Museum, and a kid’s ID table sponsored by the West Hartford Police Department. As you continue to walk through the property, there will be a drum circle, Zumba, generational portraits done for families, and a dunk tank — come early as West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka will be in the tank, to be followed by other West Hartford luminaries! Then it will be time for a free massage, and throughout the day, music, food and raffles.
Proceeds from the event will benefit West Hartford’s crisis relief fund, “The Town That Cares.” Every cent generated will go directly to this special fund. Established as a reserve for West Hartford residents who can’t afford basic amenities, “The Town That Cares” is completely funded by independent donations. In the last year, the money raised has funded Thanksgiving food drives, Back-to-School fundraisers, and helped over 1,000 families in need.
Admission is $5 for kids and seniors, $10 for adults (a maximum of $30 per family). Parking will be available at the University of Hartford, Lot A.
Bring the whole family to Brookdale Place on Saturday for an afternoon of sun, fun, and do-gooding!
