A Rising Tide: Financing Strategies for Women-Owned Firms
by Susan Coleman and Alicia Robb

We anticipate that A Rising Tide: Financing Strategies for Women-Owned Firms will be of interest to women business owners, potential women business owners, academic audiences, and readers who have a general interest in the topic and issues of entrepreneurship.  We see the book as a “must read” for women interested in starting or just starting their own firms, and it could serve as a supplementary source of readings for courses dealing with entrepreneurship, women’s entrepreneurship, or entrepreneurial finance.

The value of this particular book to readers is that it will build upon research that has been done on financing women-owned firms by focusing on the meaning and applicability of research findings for actual and potential women entrepreneurs.  Our book will provide valuable insights into what women entrepreneurs need to know about financing their firms before they get started.  To facilitate this goal, we will provide quotes and mini-cases based on “real-life” women entrepreneurs to illustrate various financing situations, challenges, and strategies.  These “tales from the field” will bring theory to life by sharing the stories and experience of successful women entrepreneurs.
