Career Development Services

To remain motivated, employees must have opportunities to develop and grow. The Center for Professional Development's Career Development program helps employees to grow as professionals and through one-on-one sessions with a career counselor.

The Individual Career Development Counseling program includes:

Initial Assessment
The career counselor talks with the employee to learn about the employee's needs, work history, current position, educational background, career aspirations and career concerns.

Self Assessment
Through the use of worksheets developed by Center staff and standardized assessment tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory®, the employee and career counselor:

  • Identify the employee's skills, interests, values, personality traits, preferred work environment, and desired intter-personal interactions
  • Define aspects of a work environment that best foster the employee's productivity
  • Identify interests that contribute to career satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and development for the employee
Goal Setting/Action Planning
The employee, with the guidance of the career counselor, devises strategies for career growth and development. These strategies may include job enhancement, job redesign, movement to another division of the company, training, education, or other opportunities. Contact the Center to learn more about our Individual Career Development Counseling program for employees.
