The first Lunch and Learn Seminar of the semester will be held on Thursday January 31. Vince Siefert of Siefert and Associates will be joining us to discuss the construction engineering field. Time and place will be announced via email after you RSVP with Professor Swartz.
The first Lunch and Learn Seminar will be held Friday September 21 at 11am. Larry Murphy of CDM will be joining our discussion as well as Chris Dupuis from University Facilities. We will be discussing the bridge replacement project on the University of Hartford campus and taking a tour of the site.
Next Thursday September 27 we will be hosting Trevor Ortolano of CHA on campus. His presentation will discuss the need for improved infrastructure to support the growing natural gas industry in the eastern United States.
The first general meeting for the ASCE Chapter's 2012-2013 year will be Thursday, September 13 at 12:15 in D204.
The Civil Engineering department will be sponsoring a class trip for students in the undergraduate program. It will be a full-day event featuring visits to several major construction sites in the greater Hartford area. The tentative date for the trip is October 5.
The ASCE Student Chapter plans to host a weekly Lunch-and-Learn Seminar through the fall and winter. The series will include guest speakers coming to campus and trips to visit interesting sites. The University of Hartford Steel Bridge team competed for the first time this year in the NSSBC - National Student Steel Bridge Competition - sponsored by ASCE and AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction). The team competed successfully at the New England regional competition held on the campus of UMass-Amherst. Click HERE for the full story.
