North Shore Road is located in the Town of Litchfield, a rural town in the northwest part of Connecticut. There has been an increase in on-site septic system failures of houses along the road. Some of the houses, which are owed by the White Memorial Foundation (WMF) and located just north of Bantam Lake, have outdated septic systems. While these homes have not experienced any septic system problems to date, the North Shore Road Association was concerned about finding ways to prevent future failures which would result in reduced water quality alternatives for improving the subsurface wastewater disposal systems of these homes. Partial Design of a 3-Story Office Building in Farmington, CT
The objective of this project was to design a portion of a three story 125,000 ft2 office building that had the same architectural style as the other two identical buildings that already exist at the sight and owned by the same client. The building components were designed by first looking at existing building drawings and layouts. Then, based on the requirements by the owner/tenant, building codes, and the materials used, the loads were calculated. The model was then designed using Ram Steel. Results were verified by hand calculations and cost estimate was performed by using professional engineers cost estimate of a recent similar project. Sponsored by Girard and Company L.L.P.
