Scholarships and Assistantships

The Department of Architecture offers tuition scholarships and graduate assistantships to entering and returning students on a competitive basis as funds are available. The scholarship awards are presented at the annual Architecture Gala in April co-sponsored by the Department of Architecture, AIA Connecticut, and the Connecticut Architecture Foundation.


KelseyScholarships offered by the Department of Architecture include:

Tai Soo Kim Traveling Fellowship

The Fellowship was established by area architect Tai Soo Kim, FAIA, of Tai Soo Kim Partners, to encourage the independent study of architecture by graduating Master’s students. Students may travel anywhere they wish, but their program of study must include a service component. Application

Master of Architecture Scholarship

The purpose of the endowed fund is to promote and enhance the education of graduate students in the University of Hartford's Master of Architecture program. Application

David N. LaBau Memorial Endowed Architecture Scholarship

The scholarship is provided for an Architecture graduate student who demonstrates outstanding academic work and leadership. Application

Frederick J. Mahaffey Memorial Endowed Architecture Scholarship

The scholarship is provided for an Architecture graduate student who demonstrates outstanding academic work and leadership. Though not a requirement to obtain the scholarship, preference will be given to students who self-identify as LGBTQ. Application

GRADUATE Assistantship

The Department of Architecture offers graduate assistantship positions to qualified students enrolled in the Master of Architecture program. The graduate assistants will work with full-time faculty teaching in the department's undergraduate program and/or providing student support in the woodshop and fabrication labs. Application
