Roof-Top Rainwater Harvesting

The design of the rooftop rainwater harvesting system is being done by an interdisciplinary sophomore engineering class of 16 students that is led by Robert Arsenault, PE. The goal of this project is to provide the Girls Primary School with a clean supply of water during the rainy season when the solar powered groundwater pump will not be as effective. By working with the villagers in the construction of the system for the school using local materials and labor, we hope that similar rooftop rainwater harvesting systems can be replicated around the village. The importance of this project to the region can be seen by the letter sent to us by Navjyoti India Foundation on their efforts to promote a program called "Green Gurgaon Good Gurgaon".
