Mechanical Engineering Department

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Teaching, research and service efforts within our Department encompass the areas of specialization in Acoustics, Manufacturing, Energy and Sustainable Design, Acoustical Engineering and Music; and Mechanical Engineering Technology.

All of the programs offered in the Mechanical Engineering Department are fully ABET -accredited.  Our continued attention to small class sizes allows for significant levels of personal attention and one-on-one mentoring of our students, and an easier connection between students and professors, as well as an ideal environment for student-to-student collaboration with substantial focus on engineering design and communication skills in preparation of young careers in industry, consulting and research.

Please feel free to click through our Department pages and take note of the pride we have in providing all the right offerings for a successful college experience complemented with currency in course content, detail in structured academic advising, a full range of science activities/competitions and professional engineering clubs.

In the current economy, we are well aware of our responsibilities more than ever as teachers, educators and academics to make your investment in higher education pay off. Between your academic goals and hard work, and our commitment to helping you succeed in the classroom and beyond we are convinced that our combined efforts will result in academic enrichment, personal and professional growth, and a bright future.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of our faculty members with your questions about the Department or specific programs, and also to arrange for dates and times to visit the campus. In fact, I encourage you to visit our classrooms, laboratory facilities and overall campus, and meet with a faculty advisor in your area of interest. We have an outstanding and diverse group of faculty members whose dedication to students will make all the difference in your University of Hartford experience.

We look forward to meeting with you.
