Career Readiness

The University of Hartford has identified career readiness as a top priority for the future of the University and its students. Strategic Planning Initiative one directly addresses career success:

Challenge and support students in a vibrant educational environment that integrates disciplinary focus, broad knowledge of the wider world, and exposure to experiences that prepare students for career success and personal development.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE):

Career readiness is the attainment and demonstration of requisite competencies that broadly prepare college graduates for a successful transition into the workplace.

These competencies are:

  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Oral and written communication
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Information technology application
  • Leadership
  • Professionalism and work ethic
  • Career management

You can read more about these competencies on the NACE website, which is linked on the right side of this page.
