Barney senior Rafael Bolivar (BSBA'12), after interning there during Spring semester, will be starting his marketing career with Soma Technologies, assisting in developing international marketing campaigns and expediting international transactions. Read the Press Release announcing his appointment.
For Rafael there is a second chapter to his success story.
After a year and a half working at Soma Technology as an International Marketing Coordinator. Rafael was offered a position to become a Project Manager for the Marketing and Communication Department of Aetna Insurance. Being part of this role has allowed him to have a different perspective of how business are handled in large organizations, giving him a good point of comparison between his small to medium business professional experience. It has also giving him the opportunity to learn about new business processes, marketing strategies and campaigns, consumer communications and to acquire new project management skills.
Rafael attributes this accomplishments and new opportunities to the education he received at the University of Hartford and from its faculty of outstanding members. For this reason, last year he decided to enroll in the MBA program within the University and currently, he is 6 courses away to receive his MBA degree. He also belongs to the Sigma Alpha Psi honor Society Chapter of the University. Rafael, among his long-term career goals, expects to teach a business course at the University of Hartford as a way to give back and share his experience and knowledge to new students. He is a proud alumni and strong advocate of the outstanding education and program the Barney School of Business has to offer to students.
