The University of Hartford Beta Alpha Psi Chapter, Mu Chi, was a co-host school with the University of Connecticut for the Beta Alpha Psi Atlantic Coast Regional Meeting on March 21-22, 2014 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Hartford.
Beta Alpha Psi is a national student organization that promotes and encourages scholastic and professional excellence in accounting, finance and information technology.
The conference theme was “Leading at the Crossroads,” recognizing the dynamic global environment in which today’s graduates are entering. The program included a keynote address by the President and CEO of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) on the value of being a leader in the business community. In addition there were team building exercises, best practices sessions, and professional and alumni presentations addressing careers in accounting, finance and information technology; fraud and forensics; green initiatives; mergers and acquisitions; and business etiquette.
Approximately 340 students and 30 faculty advisors from 39 colleges and universities from Maine to Virginia attended. Representing the Barney School chapter were its faculty advisors--Carl Smith and Don Warren--and 10 students--Shelby Bissonnette and Ilya Yantovsky, the chapter’s Co-Presidents and members--Anna Pan, Nicholas Alcutt, Monica Harrison, Katelin Meyers, Lisa Carlson, Kamil Kolakowski and Krystle Baraceros who served as a student member on the conference steering committee was recognized for her contribution in planning and coordinating the conference.
The Barney Mu Chi chapter turns over the banner to the host chapters of the next meeting.
