Admission Requirements

The Barney School adheres to the standards of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business—International (AACSB) and reserves admission to those students showing high promise of success in postgraduate business study. To assess the potential of candidates for admission, the School considers all parts of the application, including the letter of intent, résumé, and the quality of recommendations. Carefully consider every piece of your application before submitting.

All candidates must:

  • Complete an on-line application
  • Pay a $50 application fee
  • Send official transcripts for all previous high education institutions including community colleges, 4-year institutions, and graduate programs. Transcripts can be sent to: Center for Adult and Graduate Academic Services, CC23, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117 USA or emailed from the institution to gradstudy@hartford.edu. You cannot email the copies yourself.
  • Submit at least two letters of recommendation from academic or professional sources. You may enter the email addresses of the people who will be recommending you to the program and we will send them a short form to fill out online. It may be wise to seek more than two recommendations as sometimes recommenders take longer than you anticipate to complete the recommendation
  • Send your GMAT scores or submit a request for GMAT waiver (see below)
  • Submit a letter of intent.
  • Submit your most current résumé.

If you have the letter of intent and your most current résumé, the entire application should take less than 25 minutes to complete. If you are unable to complete the entire process in one sitting, please make sure to request your transcripts as the first step. Domestic transcripts can sometimes take a week or more to arrive.
