Admission Requirements

The Barney School adheres to the standards of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business—International (AACSB) and reserves admission to those students showing high promise of success in postgraduate business study. To assess the potential of candidates for admission, the school looks carefully at scores on the GMAT and performance in undergraduate and other graduate programs. In addition, it will review professional and academic recommendations as well as the motivation of the applicant
as evidenced in the letter of intent. All application materials, with the exception of the
GMAT score, must be submitted prior to initial registration for a class. Prospective students will only be allowed to take one non-accounting graduate course without having submitted their GMAT scores. Before the end of this course, the official GMAT score must be provided in order to complete the application. No further registration is permitted until a student is accepted into a program.

All candidates must:

  1. complete an on-line application and pay a $50 application fee

  2. send official transcripts of all previous baccalaureate and graduate study,

  3. submit two letters of recommendation from academic or professional sources,

  4. take and send the results of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)*

  5. write a letter of intent and résumé.

* Applicants to the MSAT program may waive the GMAT in the following circumstances:

  1.  passed the CPA, CMA, or bar exams or

  2. hold a master’s degree or higher from an appropriately accredited institution or

  3. graduated from an AACSB accredited institution with an overall GPA and a GPA in their major of 3.3 or better.

Experience based GMAT waivers are granted only in exceptional cases to domestic applicants with 5-7 years of U.S. based financial analytical experience above the entry level. The experience-based waiver request will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

The GMAT examination has a flexible schedule of test dates. Students may call test centers and arrange for individual computerized testing. University code is XBBNR25. Scores are available within a few weeks. GMAT scores are valid for five years.
