"On the move!" That's the phrase that I think best describes the current state and the future of the Barney School of Business.
In the fall of 2000 we received initial accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). At that time we joined the ranks of just 551 business schools around the world who had received this evidence of offering the highest quality of business education and a commitment to continuous improvement.
In January 2011 we passed another rigorous review and received a six year extension of our accreditation. With over 12,000 business schools around the world, we are now among the 620 schools in 38 countries that are accredited to the highest possible standards. Accordingly, we are proud to be among the top 5 percent of business schools in the world.
The undergraduate and graduate degree programs of the Barney School of Business all reflect our mission to prepare “leaders and decision makers who are globally aware and socially responsible.” Many of our graduates are making important contributions as they take on leadership roles in major corporations, small businesses, by starting their own business, in not-for-profit organizations and government. Others continue their studies in law, medicine, or other graduate programs. Whatever path they choose they do so with a sense of how to contribute to an ever-more complex world and with a sense of social responsibility rooted in the knowledge of the importance of taking an ethical approach to all their endeavors.
We are excited about all the noteworthy developments going on at our school. I encourage you to learn more about them through our website and join us as we take the school to the next level of excellence.
