Sam Beason

Sam Beason just started his new job three months ago, and he loves every minute of it.

I’m a circuit owner for Connecticut Light & Power, Beason says. I work with everyone from executives and engineers in the home office to line crews in the neighborhoods to keep the power flowing smoothly and reliably to our customers. It’s a great job, because I get to meet wonderful people, and no two days are ever the same.

Beason credits his MBA from the Barney School for giving him this outstanding opportunity. I wrote computer software early in my career, he explains, but I wanted to broaden my education and make myself more attractive to employers, so I went back to school and got a Masters.

I really enjoyed the program, especially the management courses, Beason says. The professors taught us that effective leaders focus on more than just profits. They care about their employees and the impact their companies have on the communities where they do business.

I try to follow that philosophy in my own job every day, and I know this approach will continue to serve me well throughout my career.
